Responsibility in a relationship

Taking responsibility for one's actions gives one the courage to change. Blaming others will make one helpless.

A functional relationship

The right attitude one ought to carry into a relationship is to find what one can bring into a relationship and not what one can get out of it. With the latter, one holds another hostage to personal expectations and results in holding disappointment in another. The only disappointment one will experience with the first attitude is in one's self; for failing to give more than one could have.

Joy in a relationship

The key to filling your heart with joy is to find it in each moment. Joy comes with what you know as the unknown creates anxiety. In a sorrowful time, joy in knowing that it will come to pass. In better times, joy is in knowing that you have captured a beautiful moment in time.

What is missing in our relationships

I have a keen interest in this subject and I wonder how many of you have asked the same question. I have a spiritual philosophy and would like your take on it. I have included some questions for self reflection and to get the conversation going.

We interact with each other and the things around us but how many of these relationships build us?

PURPOSE OF THIS DISCUSSION: TO BUILD CHARACTER AND STRENGTHEN OUR RELATIONSHIPS

“LET’S TALK!”

The PROBLEM in our relationships:

WE DO NOT HAVE A PERFECT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD (we do not know how to relate to God)
We restrict ourselves from gaining access to an infinite source of energy.
1. What is your definition of a relationship with God?
2. What challenges do you face in your relationship with God?

The SOLUTION to our relationships:

LEARNING TO BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD FIRST BEFORE WE CAN SUCCEED WITH OTHERS (reducing our ego)
Each one needs to be connected to an infinite source of energy.
3. How do you play your part in building a relationship with God?
4. What challenges do you face in building this relationship?

The personal EFFECT of having a relationship with God first

BUILDING CHARACTER, (we service the needs in our relationships in place of our ego /we follow the Word of God instead of our ego.)
When each one is connected to an infinite source of energy, we will stop consuming each other’s energy and learn to give to each other.
5 How do you build character?
6. What personal challenges do you experience in completing a given task?

The EFFECT building character has on our relationships:

STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS (developing sustainable relationships)
When we give service to our relationships, we maintain them.
7. How has your growth in character strengthened your relationships?
8. What challenges do you face in maintaining your relationships?

This discussion is also on Face book under the relationship forum.

Communication in a relationship

Communucation is more effective if we spend more time learning a new langauge so the we can understand another rather than trying to teach another to speak our language so that they can hear us.

Focus

Living for today does not mean you do not think about tomorrow. It means what you focus on today should be determined by what you have planned for tomorrow.

Building character

It is important to build character because it is the only thing that will stand when every thing else falls away.

Conflict in a relationship

Conflict is part of a developing relationship. A relationship survives conflict when each one steps back (in order to gain a full perspective of the pending need) without stepping out (and missing another opportunity reconnect).

Respect in a relationship

The respect that one gives to another indicates the value one places over another life.

Giving in a relationship

To give freely is to give with an open heart. A heart that gives without the reservation does not count what is gained by another as a loss to one's self.
